Dylan studied with Seth as an undergraduate, minoring in philosophy at Linfield. Seth's classes—starting with an East/West comparative course and continuing through ancient and modern philosophy—fundamentally shaped how he sees the world. After graduation, they stayed in touch and developed a friendship based on deep thinking and lightheartedness, because being well-rounded matters.
As a mental health counselor, Dylan sees daily how people struggle to understand and integrate their self-concept. Philosophy and the skills it develops—careful thinking, questioning assumptions, understanding different perspectives—help people understand themselves and one another. That understanding reduces suffering. That's why Philosofarian's mission to make philosophy accessible matters to him personally.
Dylan brings thoughtfulness to the board, along with a personal connection to the mission through his experience with Seth's teaching. His perspective is rooted in empowerment and liberation, both individually and collectively.
When he's not counseling or thinking philosophically, Dylan plays guitar for a heavy metal band.
