Philosophical Ethics, Part 1

  • The Catalyst 264 West Marine Drive Astoria, Oregon, 97103 United States (map)

Ethics is sometimes framed around actions: What should I do? Virtue ethics asks us to look at the person doing the acting.

What kinds of qualities make someone admirable? Can character be practiced? Who decides which traits count as virtues? And can becoming a good person be separated from learning how to act?

We’ll consider Aristotle, Wang Yangming, and Friedrich Nietzsche.
