What does it Mean to Preserve?

Historical preservation starts with the idea that preserving the past protects something for today and the future. How is it we came to this idea? How do we decide what should be preserved? Who gets to make these decisions? We know our lives are changing all of the time. Who we are and how we live changes on a daily basis - so how do we reconcile preserving the space where all of this change his happening. Is it possible to both preserve in a way that also embraces change?

This presentation is a collaboration between Philosofarian and Lower Columbia Presentation. One local organization specializes in thoughtful, philosophical conversations and the other specializes in historical preservation.
