Wit and Wisdom Talk Series
Speaker: Seth Tichenor
We work to make a living, but few of us stop to ask what work itself is for.
This month’s Wit & Wisdom talk at Fort George Brewery looks beyond job titles and paychecks to explore what work reveals about being human. Philosopher Seth Tichenor will invite us to think about work as one of the ways we shape the world—and ourselves.
Why do we long for meaning in what we do?
Is meaning something found in the task, or something brought by the worker?
And what happens when our work no longer connects to who we are?
Rather than tracing the history of labor or the sociology of jobs, this talk approaches work as a philosophical question—one that lives in each of us. Expect a thoughtful 45-minute presentation followed by a short Q&A.
After the talk, join us across the street at Bridge & Tunnel Bottle Shop around 8:15 PM for casual conversation and reflections.
Some questions deserve more than quick answers.
Wit & Wisdom explores them one at a time—carefully, accessibly, and always among friends.
Free and open to the public. Food and drink available.
