Philosophical Ethics, Part 1

  • The Catalyst 264 West Marine Drive Astoria, Oregon, 97103 United States (map)

Religion has shaped ethical thought for thousands of years, but the relationship between religious belief and moral judgment is anything but simple.

Does morality depend upon the sacred? Can religious traditions offer ethical insight to people who do not share their beliefs? Can morality stand independently of religion?

We’ll explore these questions through Saint Thomas Aquinas, William James, and Friedrich Nietzsche.
